BigTopo9
All Topo Map V7 Pro map sets include a tool for building new maps
called BigTopo. The latest version is BigTopo9.
BigTopo9 allows you to:
- Stitch adjoining maps together to form huge
coverage maps (seam
24K, 50K, 64K, 100K and 250K basemaps)
- Down-sample maps to lower resolution allowing huge coverage,
even from 1:24K basemaps
- Export maps as IT5 (the AllTopo format), TIF, geo-TIF, PNG,
JPG, BMP, GIF with worldfiles and .prj files
- Reproject maps from the native UTM projection to Geographic
(Lat/Lon) and State Plane
- Lighten colors for maps that are to be used for background
images
- Convert exported maps directly to grayscale
- Generates tiled Carlson Software SurvCE and FAST Survey .IMD
file sets
BigTopo9 is available for all V7 Pro users. (If your your map set
does not have BigTopo9 included, you can add it by clicking

For an example, lets piece together a Green River fishing map
with coverage from Flaming Gorge Dam to the Colorado border in
GeoTIF format for use with another GIS package.
1. First display the area on a 1:250,000 scale map in the All
Topo Maps viewer:

2 . Now place bookmarks on the Northwest and Southeast corners of
the area we would like to
cover. To do this, just place the cursor
over the corner location and press the "1" or "2" to set
Bookmarks 1
or 2:

All Topo will display the bookmark locations with dots and BK1 /
BK2 labels.
3. Start the BigTopo9 tool from the Tools menu:

4. BigTopo9 will start, click to Lock and Anchor the
North West Corner:

5. Recall the Northwest coordinate by pressing on the North West
Bookmark button:

6. Recall the Southeast coordinate using the same method.
BigTopo9 will display the resulting map
size, 20 miles wide by 6.4
miles in height. On the Annotations tab enter a name (Title) for the
map and choose to add a UTM grid:
