Build 7478 Nov, 23 2007 | > Multiple line notes, stored in User System Defaults (Options: System...: System (tab): User) now stored and recalled correctly. (MikeJ) |
|
Build 7477 Nov, 8 2007 | >
Layer configuration dialog now moves 'out of the way' when modifying layer
number or layer name. > Build 7476 introduced an issue where tools (like BigTopo, ATMGPS) were not registered on startup. |
|
Build 7476 Nov, 6 2007 | >
Imported DeedPlotter+ DXF vertices are now exported to polygon shapefiles.
Includes rotation and scaling. Arcs are approximated by a series of straight
lines. This is a surprisingly complex enhancement. (MikeJ) > AllTopo used to report the number of possible features collected. Typically the collection process resulted in an extra 'phantom' feature being reported at the beginning of shapefile output. So if your project has exactly 20 polygons, AllTopo would report that it exported 21 polygons even if the first element had 0 elements and was not written. AllTopo now correctly reports the number of polygons, polylines or points.
> AllTopo now supports up to 99 layers. The old
limit was 10. Layers may now be named, and the custom names are stored in
annotation files. The old annotation source format for layer commands was
"<L 8>" where 8 is the layer number, the new format is "<L 8 "Fences and
Boundaries"> where 8 is the layer number and the text enclosed within ""s is
the user assigned layer name. If no user layer name is specified a generic
name "Layer 8" is used. If you are writing annotation source by hand, only
one layer command needs a layer name. > The Windows message box requesting that
you place a CD in the drive has been eliminated. We had a 'fix' for this (cdfix.exe)
that modified AllTopo to NOT look for elevation and map data on CD drives,
but it was not a permanent fix and after some time the questions would
reappear. Hopefully this annoying Windows behavior has been completely thwarted. > DeedPlotter+ filenames are now shown in the "View GeoLink Attributes" window, if there is an attached file. > AllTopo now prefers updated maps when using 'latest' versions. Later dated maps always sort highest. On a date tie, FSSE Rev D sort higher than FSSE Rev V, Igage revisions sort higher than any FSSE or USGS. If the user has made a map selection in the past, the user's selection is honored. (RonS) |
|
Build 7472 Sept 27, 2007 | > Trapped zero sized legend elements which caused floating point exceptions while drawing legends and the legend editor. (PeteS) (That's a real bug!) |
|
Build 7471 Aug 15, 2007 | > Added 'Global Scale Override' to the Printed Map Scale dialog. This allows you to globally adjust font and line sizes after a project is built. The 'zoom' range is 1 to 400% of nominal scale. This is one of the most useful enhancements ever made to AllTopo. (NealG) |
|
Build 7470 Aug 14, 2007 | > 'Use Tower Heights' is now remembered from last profile build. |
|
Build 7467 July 27, 2007 | >
MapBox Update: A new option (see Updates: Choose Map Revision: Updates:
Update MapBox via Web) allows AllTopo to download every updated map for
every purchased map set. A valid MapBox map source folder and MU subscription key are required. A hardware KEYLOCK may be required, full web-based serial number validation is performed. It make take several hours or as much as three days to update a MapBox, depending upon how many maps need to be copied. The BLM Surface Management maps are very large and exasperate the transfer time. Note: most existing users will need a new statelist.dat file in the DB folder. > |
|
Build 7466 June 25, 2007 | >
Added support for USB KEYLOCK device: Installation: KEYLOCK drivers are installed on system SNManager: Prompts for KEYLOCK, if found loads system with serial numbers from lock AllTopo Viewer: Requires KEYLOCK for LOCKED products. > Added extra output field to text file output of computed profile. New field is the plane distance, existing field was ground distance. Note: both exported distances are grid (NOT ground) distances. (JTully) |
|
Build 7463 June 1, 2007 | > Added
"Compute Average Slope for Selected (polygon)" tool to the Waypoint List's
Option menu. This tool computes the average maximum slope of the described
polygon. To use this tool, from within the 'Search Annotation List' dialog, select a single annotation that is part of a closed polygon. Click on the menu item "Options: Compute Average Slope for selected". AllTopo will integrate the slope over the inscribed area enclosed by the polygon and return the average maximum slope. Slope is defined as the quotient of RISE (or FALL) divided by RUN times 100%. A road which rises 100 feet in 100 feet of horizontal travel has an angle of 45° and a slope of 100%. Slopes can be higher than 100% (MikeJ) |
|
Build 7462 May 15, 2007 | >
Garmin Waypoint timestamp to AllTopo timestamp tool: Garmin GPS receivers do
not encode the date time that the waypoint was stored, into the waypoint
structure in the GPS receiver. They do leave a text time and date value as
the default waypoint description in the form "25_APR_07 245912PM". If the
GPS user does not edit the default description, AllTopo will now convert the
text description to the Date= format that AllTopo encodes HWP files. From the Waypoint List (Search: Search Annotation List, shortcut = Alt-W), highlight all of the annotations you would like to process. If there is not a valid date/time stamp in the description, AllTopo will skip it so it is OK to use Ctrl-A to select them all. Next select "Options: Garmin Desc to Date Time". AllTopo will automatically process the selected points. NOTE: Make Absolutely Sure you have not enabled "Timestamp Stripping" (see Options: System Options: Advanced (tab): Other Options: Annotation Timestamps) or AllTopo will ALWAYS strip timestamps from all points in all files. |
|
Build 7461 May 10, 2007 | > The line style "OnTopOf" was not written to annotation files, lines of this type were subsequently lost when they changed to normal lines. (NGray) |
|
Build 7460 May 9, 2007 | > A new
checkbox option on the Advanced tab of System Options (Options: System
Options...: Advanced (tab): Job Read Only) sets the AllTopo reader to a 'ReadOnly'
state. No user actions are allowed that will result in modification to open
annotation files. When the 'Job Read Only' box is checked it is possible to manually edit and save the annotation file from within the Waypoint Annotation Source Editor (shortcut key is F8). |
|
Build 7459 Mar 9, 2007 | >
AllTopo now allows you to select multiple NGS Control Point datasheets, and
will download and store all of the sheets to a unique directory (C:\ATM7Pro\NGSDataSheets
by default). AllTopo adds an annotation for each of the datasheets, and each
annotation includes a direct link to the saved text file. Once downloaded, you can right-click near any of the annotations and choose 'Open Link', AllTopo will open the datasheet using Notepad (or whatever tool is associated with the .TXT file extension.) |
|
Build 7458 Feb 27, 2007 | > _AllTopo now checks auto scroll settings on all dialog boxes. Hopefully, this will address issues on custom configured displays. |
|
Build 7457 Feb 26, 2007 | > Lat/Lon Grid lines did not have lines of equal latitude labeled when image was exported to graphic file or clipboard. The Latitude is now displayed if enabled. |
|
Build 7456 Feb 5, 2007 | > New 'Break Selected Line' tool under Line in Waypoint List. Any polyline feature with at least one selected point is evaluated for obvious breakpoints (places where two disparate tracks appear to be connected.) Qualifying points are separated into two (or more) tracks. |
|
Build 7455 January 29, 2007 | >
Layer/Grid controller did not size correctly for custom font sizes and
scaling. > Added Feature edit and selection to main map window pop-ups. From the pop-up window, you can right-click near a polyline or polygon (feature) and edit the entire feature or select (highlight) the entire feature in the waypoint list/editor. (Right-click, Feature..., Select or Edit). > Export Annotation Wizard now clears most setup parameters when loading configurations. > When picking a point for Path Profiles, only the nearest point on a polyline or polygon is now considered in the pick list. (Any point on the same polyline will generate the same profile, so why give alternatives.) |
|
Build 7452 December 28, 2006 | >
Some Toshiba laptops (details later) would not allow program or map updates
via the web. If you suspect that your machine suffers this issue: Start All Topo Maps; Select the main menu option "Help: License Manager". Then from the "License Manager" menu select "Options: Subscription Check", subscription check should result in a box showing the status of your SU code. Next select "Options: Subscription Check" a second time. If your machine hangs, then this update may fix the issue. Toshiba Laptops that failed: "M105 S3064" and "U205 S5022". Both these laptops have a fingerprint scanner. A definitive bug or issue could not be found, however it was found that by allocating one instance of the HTTP protocol at run time, instead of allocating and releasing as needed, the issue appears to be fixed. |
|
Build 7450 December 22, 2006 | >
Token-value expressions added. See [ Token Values
]
> New option (Options: System Options: Advanced: Store Map View (position) in Annotation Files). When checked the location of the current viewport is stored at the top of the annotation file. Typically, this will result in AllTopo centering the map at the same location where the file was viewed when last saved. NOTE: moving the map does not mark the annotation file as changed, you need to manually save the annotation file if you want the position updated. > Annotation Export tool modified to only 'execute after writing' if user chooses to write file. (Pressing Cancel from the file browser no longer spawns an external process.) |
|
Build 7450 December 8, 2006 | >
New 'Fence' line style. Foreground color is 'wire' color, background color
is 'barb' color, Pen Width is the barb spacing, line width is the wire
width. (BruceL.) > Adding the ~EXP directive to the end of the coordinate string pattern in the import agent now results in coordinates like "37504630N098383901W" being treated as "37 50 46.30 N 098 38 39.01W". This is needed to read the '.SP1' file format (what ever that is :). > Export Annotation Agent will now search for included text files in the preamble and postamble patterns in the same folder as the export pattern was loaded from if no explicit path is given. > Export Annotation Agent now warns when an export file exists and will be overwritten. > An area to override the exported file extension is now provided for in the Annotation Export Agent. > An 'execute after writing' checkbox is available in the Annotation Export Agent to force AllTopo to spawn a process after a file is written. AllTopo will honor the extension mapping for the host computer. For example, when exporting .KML files, AllTopo will spawn GoogleEarth with the newly exported file. (MS) > Export Patterns are now provided for KML / Google Earth. |
|
Build 7447 December 7, 2006 | >
Legend tool did not correctly find a line followed by a polygon if
successive and all attributes (other than line/poly) matched. > Legend tool used line background color for fill color. > %MLAT% and %MLON% tokens added. They export the latitude and longitude in minutes.decimal_minutes. (DS) |
|
Build 7446 November 30, 2006 | > All
annotations were broken into multiple lines with every occurrence of a
capital 'L'. Introduced in Build 7444, released only in Alpha version. > Grid Layer Controller now keeps adjusted size. > Annotation file is now marked as 'changed' when extended (not Name, Desc, Note) attributes are enabled or disabled. |
|
Build 7445 November 19, 2006 | >
Added support for Shapefile Type 23 (PolylineM). (DonA) > Layer/Grid Controller (Alt+G) dialog is now sizeable. |
|
Build 7444 November 19, 2006 | >
"Annotation Export Agent" Enhancements: Now supports preamble and postamble. Allows selection of waypoints by ALL or just those selected in the Waypoint List. Allows selection by Waypoint, Polyline or Polygon membership. An interesting feature is the pre/post-amble may include tokens, including the %>"filename" 0% token which includes the contents of another file. Using tokens, you can build a generic file which is included automatically. (Suggested by MikeS.) > Filename parser for token included files now ignores embedded '\' within filenames. Previous behavior results in filenames with two or more initial numbers being converted to an extended character. For example the file "C:\123.txt" is converted to "C:\3.txt". > Map Selection tool no longer reads protected memory when called when viewing a BigTopo map. > Export Patterns now default to the Settings folder (not the BIN7 executable folder.) > "Token Helper" now keeps any previous tokens and appends new tokens at the end. |
|
Build 7442 November 13, 2006 | >
Added log information for files that have decompression issues. Prompted by
decompressed files that are larger than expected. > New code signing certificate for 2007. |
|
Build 7441 October 11, 2006 USNG Support (United | *****
USNG (United States National Grid) Support Enhancements ***** > Token Helper: Changed "%MRGS%" to "%MGRS%" in the token helper dialog. Duhh! > Token Helper: Added %USNG% item. > New Token "%USNG%". Defaults to 1 meter
precision and NAD83, accepts precision and datum override. FGDC-STD-011-2001
compliant. Ex: > New Primary and Secondary Coordinate display style properties dialog has USNG (United States National Grid) selection. USNG coordinates allow datum selection (only NAD27 and NAD83), precision, truncation and space padding attributes. > Modified the precision overrides for both
%MGRS% and %USNG% tokens. Using the coordinate "40.699234 N 112.638534 W
NAD83": > Added a checkbox to control the space filling of MGRS (and USNG) coordinates "Space pad MGRS coordinates for easier readability". Space padding makes the coordinate much easier to read. For example "12T UL 61569 06660 (NAD83)" is much easier to read than "12TUL6156906660(NAD83)". The standard allows for padding to facilitate reading, however padding is not encouraged. (I personally would ALWAYS space pad, AllTopo accepts and displays both methods.) > Renamed the MGRS tab of the Coordinate Style dialog box to 'MGRS / USNG'. > The default datum for MGRS coordinates has been changed to NAD83. The old default was NAD27 for every AllTopo product. (This change has been made per FGDC-STD-011-2001 which strongly encourages NAD83 reference frame.) So AllTopo will now ALWAYS append the datum to a MGRS or USNG coordinate (except when just showing the Zone or Sheet) and AllTopo will assume that an entered coordinate is NAD83 unless the entered coordinate specifically includes "NAD27" or "(NAD27)". > The coordinate parse engine in AllTopo will now accept NAD27 and NAD83 datum specifications enclosed within parenthesis. Previous versions of AllTopo treated all text within parenthesis as comments. AllTopo ONLY accepts the these datum overrides: "(NAD27)", "[NAD27]", "(NAD83)" and "[NAD83]", anything else contained in '()' is still ignored. > !!! As a final note on USNG, you should
remember that the 100,000 meter Square Identification in MGRS coordinates is
COMPLETELY different for NAD83 and NAD27 coordinates. For example the
coordinate "40.699234 N 112.638534 W NAD83" yields these MGRS coordinates: If you are using NAD83 MGRS or USNG coordinates, AllTopo will always do the right thing. If you are entering NAD27 MGRS you should append MGRS to the coordinate or select NAD27 in the drop down datum box. |
|
Build 7440 Jul 24, 2006 |
> Added token %> "filename" X% which includes the entire contents of
filename, up to the specified line count X in the place of the token. For
example %> "c:/text/disclaimer.txt"
8% includes the first 8 lines of the specified file. If X is not given, 20
is used. You MUST use forward slashes "/" in the file specification, NOT
"\". If the specified file is not found, but a similarly named file exists
in the same folder as the source HWP file the similar file will be opened. > Added TextBox symbol type. This symbol draws an outlined box (using current line color) around a box (using current background color) at the insertion point. The box is automatically sized to display all of the Description (which typically will have multiple lines). The first line of the description is drawn at 120% of the current text style bolded. Subsequent lines are rendered using the current text size and style. > Added automatic Legend builder. > Supports opening the same annotation file more than once. (Earlier versions only allowed a file to be included once within an hwp file. Now a 'sub' hwp file may be included several times. > Added "Edit: Select Matching" option in the WPList dialog to make it easy to select and edit all of the annotations which are similar. This makes it easy to change all of the red lines to blue lines. The test for 'Similar' annotations is the same test that is used to group legend annotations.

|
BigTopo7 B7426 July 18, 2006 | > Support for building 1:50,000 scale BigTopo Maps. Required for Dominican Republic set and Puerto Rico Updates. |
|
Build 7437 Jan 24, 2006 | > Build Profile, X-axis, sometimes displayed duplicate labels when precision of axis did not match spacing. (CHendrick). |
|
Build 7436 Jan 21, 2006 | >
DeedExport tool bailed out for recent versions compiled with code
optimization. (Yuk!) Fixed. > Annotation Editor in Builds 7431 through 7434 reset fill style to solid. > Principal Meridian was not initialized to last value when AllTopo starts. |
|
Build 7431 Jan 11, 2006 | > Symbol
Types: Square, Rectangles now honor fill styles (these types used to be
clear brushed always.) Existing projects may need to set the fill styles to
CLEAR after updating. (NGray) > Lowrance GPS USR Files now supported in ATMGPS tool. Use "Load Coordinates From 'Waypoint File'" and "Save Selected Coordinates to 'Waypoint File'". |
|
Build 7427 October 31, 2005 | > In Waypoint Source Editor, "Search: Find..." dialog is shown off of the current monitor screen. B7427 checks and insures that the find dialog is on the current monitor. (LBrown) |
|
Build 7426 October 31, 2005 | > Added 'Set Image Width by Scale' option to Profile Export. This is useful if you are making profiles for a publications as every profile can have the same horizontal scale. By overriding the Min and Max elevation and using manually fixed values, both the horizontal and vertical scales can be exactly the same. (JBrown) |
|
Build 7425 October 25, 2005 |
>Unified installer and upgrade tool for Version 7 Pro and Upgrade products.
Same upgrade exe tool now works for any V7 product. > Four Corners PLS Serial number was generated with random and bogus (but valid) values. A new, more valid serial number is now generated. Most users won't notice anything until they do a web update and the bogus number is removed and a new valid number is installed. > Waypoint List now searches and highlights dependably regardless of number of entries. Hinting has been added to better display the selection under the mouse cursor. > Rover Height in Profile Options now accepts changes. > .PRJ files are now generated when exporting any generic graphic file format. This makes using BigTopo and exported map pieces with ArcPad (a trademark of ESRI) easier. > Versions for most programs now reflect the Year.Month.Day.BuildNumber. Build numbers for all programs have been incremented to Build 7425. > The GPS Tool tracker now includes more hints and works with un-initialized main files. > The 'Rover Height' entry box is easier to edit. > UT Demo Quickshape File: NOTE there is a new Utah Quickshape file available on the web which should export patterns better. > BigTopo7 no longer reports an out of range magnetic data set. (Previous reports were incorrect.) > Updated AZ and TX elevation models are now available that fix the bad regions at the bottom of each state. Check the V7 update lists for a link to the data installer, or call us for an update disk. |
|
Build 7422 October 19, 2005 | > Measurement Spike always returned to NAD27 datum on AllTopo startup. Datum is now preserved through restart. (DSilver) |
|
Build 7421 October 10, 2005 | > Support for updated NED data sets. Required for AZ and TX elevation updates. |
|
Build 7420 October 3, 2005 | > AutoGeoLink tool overwrote original JPG files with contents of .INI file holding the geographic location of the picture. Tool now adds this data to a '.ini' file with the same base name and path of the picture image. |
|
Build 7414 August 27, 2005 | >
WPList Search: The search now positions the current row selection to the
next row that matches the find string. F3 now positions the current row to
the next row below the cursor. Note: when you search for anything every annotation is un-selected. Then all annotations that match the search pattern are selected, then the first annotation below the currently selected row is made the current row (this will wrap to the top of the annotation list). Finally, the grid is positioned so that the currently selected row is visible. (TFisher) > Each time you press F9 to change map scales (or trigger the 'Change Map Scale' dialog); AllTopo now writes a file (in the same filepath where _AllTopo.exe resides) named "BigTopoList.txt" that contains a tab-delimited list of every BigTopo map found in the current BigTopo path. The BigTopo path is set on the 'System Options: System (tab): Default BigTopo Search Folder'. The format of the BigTopoList.txt file is: "UNCFilename \t "Mapname" \t EastLon \t WestLon \t SouthLat \t NorthLat \t Datum \n". (TFisher) |
|
Build 7409 August 18, 2005 | > Profile display: Shows accumulated gain and loss to cursor position. (PLowry) |
|
Build 7405 August 9, 2005 | >
Profile display: Zoom control expanded to allow changed of 1/10th % instead
of just 1%. Previous operation made selection for very long trails
difficult. (PLowry) > Profile builder allocates profile working memory in larger chunks to aid in garbage collection. Faster profiling and more resistance to running out of memory. |
|
Build 7404 August 8, 2005 | > <S
X=300.0 M RED> may not have been read correctly if the annotation file had
previous distance in feet or another unit. AllTopo now ALWAYS expects METERS
and AllTopo now writes this as: <S X=300.0M RED> |
|
Build 7394 August 1, 2005 | > Added
new option to 'Find Wpt' tool. The main menu now has a 'File' selection
which allows you to copy or cut the selected range of waypoints to a file,
or past a file to the selected place in a file. While similar to copy, cut and paste to clipboard; these new options are optimized for working with very large sets of annotations. The clipboard functions are limited by memory allocation issues and take a very long time to complete with large selections. The new functions are 1,000's of times faster! |
|
Build 7390 July 21, 2005 | > Find
Wpt Tool: instantaneous display no matter how many annotations. No more
waiting for the grid to load! > Find Wpt Tool: it is now possible to select multiple non-contiguous regions, instead of only contiguous blocks of annotations. > Find Wpt Tool: new 'Select Entire Line' tool will select (add to the selection if SHIFT key is pressed) the entire line containing the currently selected row. > Find Wpt Tool: new 'Search' menu for looking for strings within Name, Desc, Notes, Links and Location fields within the annotation list. (see also Build 7414) > Find Wpt Tool: Line column now previews the dot and line color attributes. > Find Placename Tool: the grid is now a 'standard' Windows grid and accepts mouse roller events to rotate past the top and bottom of the grid. |
|
Build 7387C Sept 9, 2005 | NOTE:
This version was released for shipping, while the versions above remain in
beta. > Added WA PLS to Installation Disk. (Added to Beta Line at Build 7915.) > Changes for AKDNR installation per SWeems. DMS Primary Display, PLS QQ Secondary Display. |
|

|
Build 7385 June 15, 2005 | > Added support for shapefiles with 24-byte (no M record) PolylineZ types. These are not defined in the ESRI shapefile definition paper, but... (JBrown/Thales support) |
|
Build 7382 June 10, 2005 | >
Disconfused the save annotations selection. When exiting AllTopo with
unsaved changes, the dialog now allows you to save to the current annotation
file. > Installation support for "Four Corners" map set. |
|
Build 7379 June 10, 2005 | > Added support for shapefiles with 24-byte (no M record) PointZ types. These are not defined in the ESRI shapefile definition paper, but... (JBrown/Thales support) |
|
Build 7376 June 9, 2005 | > Added DNR ATMNet option "\\pike\atmnet". (SWeems) |
| Build 7375 June 2, 2005 |
> The Deed Description writer (under Options on the Waypoint List box) has
been modified to accept a basis of bearings other than the basis of
projections. > The Deed Descriptions have been slightly simplified. "1 Second" now prints instead of "1 Seconds", the Basis of Bearings is enumerated at the top of the description. > A minor change to the method for computing "State Plane to True North declination" and "UTM Grid to True North declination" have been made. A shorter baseline (1 arcsecond) from the base coordinate is now evaluated instead of 1 minute. > New token %SPDEC% returns the declination from State Plane Grid North to True North. This token accepts arguments for State Plane Zone, Datum, format. |
| Build 7373 May 23, 2005 | > Changed ZoneDesc in GeoTIFF header from 'UMT ...' to 'UTM ...'. Removed trailing #0 in description from character count (this appears to fix an issue with Global Mapper imports.) |
| Build 7370 May 11, 2005 |
> Build Profile Tower Heights: Properties: Axis, Title Properties. It is now
possible to enter tower heights for any profile, not just test profiles
generated with the Elevation Tools. > Added DNR ATMNet option "\\craton\atmnet". (SWeems) |
| Build 7369 May 9, 2005 | > Import Shapefile: PolylineZ with M/Z ignored records after first segment. (RAllely). |
| Build 7365 May 4, 2005 | > Added backup file rotation to waypoint source editor. (DStuki) |
| Build 7363 May 3, 2005 | Project Saving / Backup Enhancements *** Please consider pressing the Key Combination 'Ctrl-Shift-S' after every 10 minutes when adding annotations to a project. This will save your annotations to a uniquely named, compressed file. If you can save these backups to another physical volume, network drive, floppy disk or USB drive you will be able to recover from the loss of a disk, or accidental project loss. *** > When exiting without saving the current annotation file, the user now has the option to save as another file or the same file. (DSilver) > When opening a state without opening the previous project ('Open Last Project' is unchecked), the current annotation filename is not retained. This helps prevent overwriting an existing annotation file with a new (blank) project. (SSmall) > AllTopo now keeps more than one (five by default) backup annotation files. Files are kept with these extensions: .bak, .bk1, .bk2 ... (MSilver) |
| Build 7360 April 29, 2005 |
> Selecting an annotation in the AutoGeoLink tool no longer automatically
centers the selection on the map. A new button 'Center Map' will center the
currently highlighted map. (DaveS) > AutoGeoLink: If two pictures have exactly the same time stamp (this may happen if you set your digital camera to burst or multi-exposure mode) then the pictures are further sorted by filename. (DaveS) |
| Build 7359 April 29, 2005 |
> Added 'Ignore Red Dots' on 'Line-of-Sight' tool. Red dots (no visibility)
will not be shown if checked. > 'Line-of-Sight' tool has new 'Ignore Red Dots' checkbox. When checked, only purple and greed dots are shown. > New option ("Options: System Options: Advanced (tab): Abort Profiles when Elevation Missing", checked by default). When unchecked you can perform coverage predictions over the ocean. > Added several more 'Grid Resolutions' to the 'Line-of-Sight' tool. Resolutions now enumerate the grid spacing. |
| Build 7358 April 27, 2005 | > 'Select All' button in 'Pick GeoLink to Open' dialog, reached from right-mouse-click near annotation with more than one geolink, then clicking on 'Open link...': pressing 'Select All' button closed dialog without executing links. Fixed. (Thanks to DStucki!) |
| Build 7357 April 26, 2005 | > Fixed installation issue with LAPLS (Louisiana PLS Tool) serial numbers. Released new ATM7N00W and ATMPLSLA install disks. |
| Build 7356 April 15, 2005 |
> New Map Name Tokens: %TMAP% (name of most detailed map that contains the
coordinate), %TMAP24% 24/25K map, %TMAP50%, %TMAP63%, %TMAP100%, %TMAP250%
for other scales. > "What's This" tool now better matches line and annotation numbers. Depending upon how you have edited and added to the annotation list, you may get better results by saving, then reloading the current annotation set. |
| Build 7355 April 14, 2005 |
> Shapefile export tests for all numeric output and generates integer,
float, character fields as needed. If all the values for a field are
numeric, then (MikeMadler) > Shapfile export: Descriptions are accumulated, names are ellipsed for polylines an polygons. |
| ATMGPS B7380 April 11, 2005 | > ATMGPS Build 7380: NMEA protocol GPS now honors 'Position Update Interval'. Previous versions forced 15 second update interval. |
| Build 7353 April 9, 2005 | > Any values within parenthesis in a coordinate have traditionally been treated as comments and NOT included in the coordinate when parsed. This has caused a great deal of trouble when copying coordinates from NGS Control Datasheets as coordinates ALWAYS are written like: "45 48 05.94700(N) 108 32 11.23500(W)". AllTopo's parse engine now accepts '(N)' as ' N ', which will save some users (like Mark Silver) a whole bunch of trouble. |
| Build 7351 March 29, 2005 |
> "Import Shapefile" no longer forces coordinates to NAD27 datum. NAD83
points will be kept as NAD83 points. > "Import Shapefile" now closes the annotation editor if it is open to prevent 'two copies' of source file books. > Installation support for AR, MO, FL, LA, MS. |
| ATMGPS Build 7379 March 29, 2005 | > Trap indicated D106 data type that has a payload smaller than 15 bytes and use D105 data type. Street Pilot I (V 2.07 and V2.10) indicate D106 data type while transferring D105 data type. This should not affect any other GARMIN receiver types as the D106 payload is ALWAYS bigger than 15 bytes. |
| Build 7349 March 23, 2005 | > Source file now accepts "X=1000M" as a metric value instead of feet in Symbol (and other) tabs. Previously you needed "X=1000ME" to force metric. |
|
> %@ "pattern"% now searches Auto Annotations for a match (name or
description) for "pattern". Auto annotations are searched first and offsets
from the match are not allowed (setting the offset to any value, including 0
will prevent Auto Annotations from being matched.) If a match within the
Auto Annotation set is not found, then the User Annotations are searched.
(MJohnson request) > If the default User Annotation Style (set under "Options: System Options: System (tab): User (button)" has a note defined, then this note is appended to the normal note for both System and User annotations generated by the "Find Place" tool. This allows a constant note value to be added to all such annotations. | |
| Build 7346 March 9, 2005 | > Export to PNF (optional tool) now displays progress indicator with cancel. |
| Build 7345 Feb 26, 2005 | > Support for Lowrance iFinder and Brunton Atlas USR files. From the "Annotations: Import/Export" menu, select 'Import USR File' or 'Export USR File'. |
| Build 7343 Feb 25, 2005 | > Added %LAYER% token to display the annotation layer. |
| Build 7340 Feb 16, 2005 |
> Waypoint Names not loaded when 'Force 6 character' not enabled in system
options when editing. > Waypoint Names NOT automatically generated if the Waypoint Description is empty. > Editing multiple waypoints no longer forces the text color. > ATMGPS Build 7370: Trap bad Lat/Lon in Track Point processing. Build 7371: Trap 1/2 range overflow of Time in old-style Garmin Track Point message (D300). |
| Build 7334 |
> Alternate datumed and GeoImage (TIF,JPG,BMP,PNG) are now annotated
correctly with shapefiles. This error was most notable with NAD83 DOQ images
and Wyoming Land Ownership Quick Shape Files. (RMoulton) > Fixed array subrange in profile tool. Profile export now stops at last profile point, elevation gain/loss is computed correctly. (RKanzler) > '%%' in description or note now results in a single '%' mark in the description or note. Previously there was no way to include a '%' in a text string. |
| Build 7333 |
> API GetUTM returned X position for Y. Fixed and works well. > Memory allocation issues canceled <Line ON> on 100th annotation on initial read of an annotation file. Once any file was read, the line status would revert to the correct state. |
| January 1, 2005 Updated Maps CD Release! |
> Installation support for 'Updated Maps CD' distribution disks for these
states: AZ 1 disk; CA 1 disk; CO 1 disk; ID 1 disk; MT 7 disks; NM 4 disks;
NV 1 disk; TX 2 disks; UT 4 disks; WA 3 disks; WY 3 disks. Updated maps are also available by web update or by the 'Updated Maps CD' sets. Call your AllTopo dealer or the factory to get 'Updated Maps CDs'. |
| Build 7325 | > Installation support for Michigan V7 Pro set. |
| Build 7324 December 13, 2004 |
> Added support for Shapefiles without matching DBF files. > Added support for PolygonZ type in shapefile. > All tokens are now listed in the Token Helper. Fixed ZUTM tag in Token Helper. Added '%XSP%', '%YSP%' and '%ZSP%' tokens for X&Y state plane coordinates. All tokens accept DATUM State Plane Zone, Units and Format specifications. For example: %XSP NAD83 MT SFeet "0.0000"% returns the easting value of the coordinate in Montana NAD83 State Plane Survey Feet with four decimal places of precision. ZSP returns a text description of the Datum, Zone and Units. > Added sample export pattern files (in ATM7Pro\Settings) for UTM NAD27, UTM NAD83, Lat/Lon NAD27 and Lat/Lon NAD83. These sample files will be installed when subsequent updates are installed. > Installation support for MN, NY sets. There are now two install disks, 1 for states west of (and including) ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, TX named ATMN00W and a second install disk for those states east of the west disk. The Islands (IS) set may be installed using either disk. |
Build 7320 |
AllTopo Viewer: 7.26.12.7320 (Build 7320) > Viewer displays correct volume names for update CD sources.
BigTopo7: 7.23.15.7270 (Build 7270) > Accepts updated map sources. |
Build 7316 | > Added support for Minnesota PLS Tool 4th Extended Meridian (PM46): (Num: 46; Accepted Short Names: 'ForthExt,4thExt,4thE,4E,PM46'; Full Name: 'Forth Principal Extended Meridian 1831'). |
Build 7315 | > Install support for NE V7 Pro. > BigTopo7 Help File: changed Northeast to North West under "Specify the North West and South East Corners" under "Selecting Map Coverage". |
Build 7314 | > Support for installing update map CDs during main installation. _AllTopo.exe now automatically checks for new update CD's while starting. Installer now asks if you have Montana Map Update CDs 01 through 07 and automatically registers the maps. |
Build 7313 November 22, 2004 | > AutoGeoLink tool tossed exception when analyzing files that where already opened by the operating system (like thumbnail files in the same folder as the images.) (SteveW) |
Build 7311 November 22, 2004 | > Pressing 'Cancel' when initially selecting the state to open resulted in the User, System and Tracking defaults being set to default values. (DaveS) |
Build 7310 November 18, 2004 | > Export Shapefiles: Lines built with the 'Trace Pencil' are now exported as polylines. The base point is included both as a point and as the first point in the polyline. (TFisher) > A new checkbox on the 'Advanced' tab of System Options: "Force 6 character Annotation Names" when unchecked will allow longer waypoint names than 6 characters. Users are cautioned that annotation names are not evaluated for tokens. Name="%Miles%" will display as "%Miles%" as the token is not evaluated. (TFisher) |
Build 7306 November 16, 2004 | <I "filename"> token was lost on save for filenames without wildcards. This error was introduced in Buid 7290. (TFisher) |
Build 7305 November 15, 2004 | > The 'Triangulation Tool' was found to give crazy results for some input combinations. The culprit was an fmod() function that was poorly constructed. In the process of fixing this issue, another more puzzling issue surfaced: some combinations of P1 P2 and bearings which should not have generated results, did return results that appeared to be random. Upon close inspection it was discovered that the 'Great Circle Radial Intersection' function that is used to compute the intersection point, would in some cases extend radials around the globe (perhaps 5 or more times) until an intersection was found. An entire chapter could be devoted to the most interesting effects, however the short story is "intersections are now restrained to those that occur within 1,500 miles of the first point P1". Note: The Triangulation Tool computes the intercept as an intercept of Great Circles, NOT as the intercept of straight lines in UTM or State Plane space. As an added benefit, the great circle distances from P1 to P3 and P2 to P3; where P3 is the intersection; are now displayed on the Triangulation Tool. |
Build 7305 November 12, 2004 | > Changed UTM Grid spacing to 10,000 meters for 1:100,000 scale maps. |
Build 7304 November 12, 2004 | > Map color changer modified to work with images with bad bmh.biClrImportant and bmh.biClrUsed. (Lizard) |
Build 7301 November 8, 2004 | > ATMGPS Tool: Added 'Use NADCON conversion otherwise use Molodensky' checkbox. |
Build 7300 November 5, 2004 | > Installation files distributed on CDROM have been changed from a single EXE file, to several files. This allows McAfee virus protection to load the setup files more quickly. > SHP2QSF now looks for an optional substitution file (_filename_.SUB) when converting polygon files. The format is:
This is useful for converting numeric or shorthand field values to expanded descriptions. Click [ SHP2QSF_SUB ] for additional information. > New token %@% returns the offset distance and bearing. By default the measurement spike settings are used. See [ @Token ] (Suggested by Hector Sanabria.) > Tags %XUTM...% and %YUTM...% now accept UTM Zone overrides. Previous versions used the Primary Coordinate Display style for the UTM Zone. The Primary Coordinate style is now the default which may be optionally overridden. For example the tag %XUTM NAD83 Z13% will return the NAD83 Zone 13 easting for the base point. SHP2QSF.EXE (QSF Converter) Build 2050^pOctober 29, 2004 > Fixed conversion of UTM projected, non-metric units conversion. SHP2QSF now correctly handles shapefiles with footage and survey foot units. Subsequent AllTopo viewers will work when importing UTM Footage shapefiles. |
Build 7296 October 28, 2004 | > Added additional support for Large Font settings. Specifically, AllTopo should now be more tolerant of switching from normal to large fonts after running once. > Enhanced support for unterminated IFD directory pointers in GeoTIF images. > Check and automatically fix inverted Y Scale Factors in generic images. |
Build 7293 October 5, 2004 | > Added token %qsf_% to display just the enabled quick shape values (not field names). Token accepts quote delimited field name to display a single field value. Example: '%qsf_ "OWNR_NAM1"%;Value $%qsf_ "VALUE_MRF"%' at "46 22 44.607 -113 32 45.268" in the Montana map set with the MT Parcel data results in 'USDI BLM (RESERVED);Value $396634' > Fixed Ctrl-1 through Ctrl-9 and Ctrl-0 shortcut keys to jump to bookmarks. > Installer now automatically sets NETINI paths for network installations. Support for Alaska DNR installs and SW tool. > New Tokens:
|
Build 7291 | > Installer updates for KS. |
Build 7290 September 27, 2004 | > Installer updates for ND, SD and OR. > AutoGeoLink Viewer now supports multiple pictures associated with a single annotation. Viewer automatically cycles through the picture list. Cycle speed may be controlled by right-clicking over the image and setting the Slide Show Speed. BIGTOPO7 Build 7266 - September 21, 2004 > Fixed error introduced in Build 7265 (GeoTiff X&Y basepoints were both X value). > Insure that PPI is computed correctly in non BigTopoPro installations. ATMGPS Build 7361 - September 14, 2004 > Garmin USB track transfer failed if Com Debug 'Enable Logging' checked and more than 230 trackpoints in GPS. Com debug log is now updated only after 0.75 seconds of debugging inactivity. This makes serial transfers much quicker if debug is enabled. BigTopo Build 7265 - September 14, 2004 > GeoTIFF values now are expressed in output datum, not input datum. (Tyler) > <I "C:\USER\SR\*.hwp"> The included file processor now accepts wildcards. |
Build 7286 August 30, 2004 | > Printed scale (the one printed on the South West corner of a map when "Add Map Name and Scale" is checked) is now zoom aware for printed images. > ArchGrid will now automatically generate a new annotation file based upon the current UTM coordinate. Check the "New HWP File" checkbox. > New token %SG% added to help with search and rescue grid id's. Accepts DATUM, UNITS and ZONE overrides, otherwise uses Primary Coordinate Style. Placing '%SG%' at 356,290 M E, 4,979,138 M N Z13 results in '562_793'. The UTM coordinate is rounded to the nearest 250 meter even corner. > Arch-Grid rounding button now rounds to nearest 250 meter UTM coordinate. > New token %PNFLL% which returns the coordinate location in the USGS listing style "452313N1091425W". > Support for new PNFEditor option in _AllTopo.EXE and new tool PNFTool.exe. |
Build 7283 August 26, 2004 | > Recoloring maps sometimes resulted in loss of georeferencing information. This behavior was added in Build 7259. You may recolor maps over and over... > Search by Quick Shape dialog title 'Search Quick Shape' changed to 'Search Quick Shape'. > DEVDir is now stored in startup files if not a null path. If on same drive as executable, the DEVDir path will automatically track the executable relative path. > DEVDir is now shown on the Options: Map Data tab if not a nul path. Double-click to change path. |
Build 7279 August 6, 2004 | Added '~TRAP' token to Import Annotation Wizard. Converts all characters other than ' ', 'A'..'Z','0'..'9','-','+' to spaces. Needed to read lines with bizarre characters embedded within coordinates. Command Line driven state code loading: Relaxed state code interpretation, earlier version required 'UTPRO' to load the V7 Utah Pro state set. Command line now accepts 'UTPro' or 'UT' for state. |
Build 7276 July 28, 2004 | Installation tool changes for California V7 Pro set. ATMGP Build 7356: GPS tool well tested with Garmin USB GPS devices (60C,60CS,76C,76CS). |

Build 7273 July 21, 2004 | > New option on Profile 'Properties: Show Intermediate Waypoints'. When checked (default) trackpoints are shown along profile, when unchecked just the profile is shown. |
Build 7272 July 21, 2004 | > Annotation order reversal tool did not clean up cached projection information and generated profile might have appeared to have a huge offset between adjacent points for some profiles. (PLowry) > Optimized memory allocation for profile generator. 10X speed improvement. (MSilver) |
Build 7270 July 20, 2004 | > Added coordinate scale and offset tool. Useful for applying state plane elevation corrections and moving coordinate sets fixed distances. Scale and Offset are applied to coordinate position in the 'Primary Coordinate Style' (Projection: Lat/Lon, UTM or State Plane projection; Units). See the Waypoint List 'Options: Offset, Scale Selected...' |
Build 7269 July 15, 2004 | > Added annotation order reverse tool. Useful for inverting tracks and routes. See the Waypoint List, Edit: Reverse Selected Order command. |
Build 7268 July 14, 2004 | > Added Print option to File menu of NGS datasheet viewer. You may now print a datasheet directly. |
Build 7266 July 12, 2004 | > Fixed loss of main menu 'Update' options. > Added NGS website integration tools. 'Tools: NGS Stations...' gets a list of all the control on the currently selected map. Right-Mouse-Click over a map and select 'Nearby NGS Datasheets' to get nearby control. Pressing 'Get NGS Data' button on placename search tool will download and display the NGS datasheet. > DEMExport: changed column header to 'Size (Min)' from 'Size (Deg)'. > ATMGPS: Added support for uploading tracks from ATMGPS to Garmin GPS Devices. (Note: Track timestamps are lost when uploading.) Added additional support for named tracklogs |

Build 7261 June 14, 2004 | > Installer update: include HARN files in web update distribution. |
Build 7256 June 9, 2004 | > BigTopo7: Standard version now supports 'Add GeoTIFF Information' for files with .TIF extensions. > 'Easy Add SN' button on Serial Number Manager. This button activates a smart serial number entry tool, both 16 and 17 character V6 serial numbers and 20 and 21 character V7 serial numbers will automatically be detected and installed with this tool. 'Easy Add SN' will not work with FCODE serial numbers. > HARN network adjustments can now be enabled. From the main menu "Options: System Options: Defaults (tab)" on lower left choose an available HPGN file, or AUTO. AUTO selects the first HPGN file that contains coverage for the converted point. Typically you will be best served by manually selecting the correct file to use, or turning HARN off/disabled. |
Build 7251 May 25, 2004 | > AgNav import tool (Annotations: Import/Export: Import AgNav Flight) now treats spray ON/OFF correctly for flight information outside of the bounding rectangle defined in AgNav. |
Build 7250 May 25, 2004 | > New directive in Import Agent: Adding '~D.MS' to a coordinate definition will result in numbers like '43.125678' being treated as '43 12 56.78'. This is useful for importing formats that encode a geographic coordinate like '42 23 51.3' as '42.23513'. (GGetchell and DBaker) > If a map preference is not known, viewer now shows the latest map revision by default. The earliest revision used to be shown. > Updated map list may now be downloaded without valid subscription. > After map update list is downloaded, dialog describes progress of map list sync. > BigTopo7 now allows the 'Add GeoTIF information' checkbox for all users. It used to be available only for BigTopoPro users. |
Build 7245 April 15, 2004 (released in Beta Island R2 diskset) | > Added Cuerda, Varas Conoqueras and Varas Castellana for Puerto Rican users. AllTopo will accept these abreviations: 'Cuer', 'VaraCo', 'VarasCo', 'VaraCa', 'VarasCa' for these new units. > The Shapefile reader now supports PolylineZ files, encoding the Z value as Note: 'Z=' in the AllTopo project.
|
Build 7242 7.22.3.7242 April 9, 2004 | > Shapefile Export: index files (*.idx) now report out-of-range measurements. Clears up issues with DLG32 and ESRI shapefile readers reporting errors when opening otherwise reasonable shapefiles. |
Build 7241 April 6, 2004 | > Shortcut key changed for main menu item 'View: Point-To-Point Distance Tool' from Shift-Ctrl-P (which conflicted with "Annotations: Pencil Attributes: Color") to Shift-Ctrl-O. (MStanton) > Added %PLSSEC% token which returns the PLS Section containing the coordinate. To display 'T 14N R 32W Sec 14' use "%PLSTWN% %PLSRNG% Sec %PLSSEC%". The %PLSTWN% and %PLSRNT% tokens include 'T ' but the %PLSSEC% token does not include 'Sec '. |
Build 7240 March 25, 2004 (7.21.1.7240) | > Installers updated to support Arizona Release 2 V7 product. > The viewer and BigTopo7 now treat orthophoto and topographic maps as the same when searching for map revisions. This allows regular quads (Oaaoooxx) to replace orthophoto quads (Paaoooxx). > Added Quick Shape Search tool. You can quickly search Quick Shape fields for specific data and jump to matching locations. |
Build 7233 March 5, 2004 | > New Mexico state plane coordinates (NM?) were confused with Nautical Miles when free form lines were interpreted. 'NM' is now recognized as Nautical Miles, 'NMW' is New Mexico West, 'NMI' is Nautical Miles. Similar changes have been made to these abbreviations: 'M' & 'ME' Meters, 'MEW' Maine West; 'VA' Vara, 'VAR' Vara, 'VAN' Virginia North. These interpretation issues are only applicable to reading State Plane coordinates from free format lines. (KRae) > 'GeoLink Picture Cache, CacheSize' was not retained between AllTopo viewer runs. The cache size reverted to 2.5Meg on startup. (RKanzler) > New GeoLink Image Option: from right-click popup menu on the AutoGeolink viewer: 'Cache Images'. Choosing this option will build thumbnails for every image in the folder that displays the currently shown picture. (RKanzler) > Annotation filename at bottom of screen (on status bar) is resized to fit filename. |
Build 7232 | >Export Shapefile for project with only points (no polylines or polygons) does not generate attribute list for exported points. |
Build 7231 | >AutoGeoLink viewer would not open 'PCX', 'GIF', 'JPG' and 'PNG' images. This bug was introduced in Build 7220 when additional compression types were added. |
Build 7230 | >NetINI files handled regardless of file permissions. |
Build 7229 | >BigTopo7: Maps not registered with any released map set (new Igage scans) caused illegal access when loading basemap for extraction. Users that need to use latest scans require this update. |
Build 7228 | > Convert web update paths to lowercase, relaxes server configuration requirements. B7227 would not work with maps.alltopo.com. |
Build 7227 | > Previous versions kept a list of elevation files that were not available. Once on the list, AllTopo would never look for the file again. Now, after a 15 second wait, All Topo will again attempt to find elevation files. |
Build 7223 | > DEVDir, Elevation data source paths and StatePaths now accept and evaluate ';' delimited lists of folders. You can now spread elevation or map data between two volumes ('C:\NED\;D:\NED\). Folders are searched in listed order. > Added 'Automatically populate local Elevation Data Files as they are read from CD. If checked (the default is checked) elevation data files are copied to the 'Base Location of Aux. Elev. Data Files' (typically 'C:\NED') as they are read from the CD. Once copied they will be kept and used without spinning up the CDROM. If disabled, then the IDZ elevation files are copied to the IDZCache (typically 'C:\ALLTOPO\CACHE7\IDZCACHE') and automatically managed to 3 megabytes of disk space. This new elevation behavior eliminates the difficulties encountered when viewing BigTopo maps when the corresponding source disk with elevation data is not available. > Supports new token %SLOPE% which returns the maximum slope at the coordinate location. 'Token Helper' also includes slope. |
Build 7220 | > Symbol type = Arrow: arrow heads are now drawn. If the Symbol Marker Width is less than 0, then the arrow point is draw at the annotation location (arrow points towards location instead of away from location) and the annotation text is moved to the endpoint of the arrow line. > Added enclosed area to center pivot tool output. The covered area is added to center pivot point annotation's note with the radius. The default area units are used. > Optimized memory allocation for annotations when using large (>5000 annotation) sets. A 2GHz P4 should now be able to read a 30,000 annotation point set in less than 3 seconds. Previous versions took up to 10 times longer. > Added Most Recently Used file open for BigTopo on Main Menu under "File: Open BigTopo...". > 'Set Area' on 'Annotation Editor', Symbol tab with ring or circle now works. > Quick Shape Controller: It is now possible to select and edit multiple items in the 'shape Outline', 'Shape Fill Color' and 'Shape Fill Style' boxes. > Quick Shape Display: optimized memory usage for collecting quickshapes that overlap the viewed map. Maps with over three-million lines have been successfully displayed! > Image exports (All Topo Viewer Map Export Wizard and BigTopo7) now support additional compression methods (LZW TIF and GIF, Optimized PNG, JPG's with thumbnails). The compression selection is slightly modified, press F1 to view updated help files. > BigTopo7: BigTopo Configuration File save/recall now keeps small text size selections. Text size overrides were lost in previous versions. > BigTopo7: added '½ Longitude Grid' checkbox on BigTopo7's Annotations tab. Useful for northern Alaska BigTopo maps where lines of equal longitude are too close and grid annotations overlap. (Thanks to RReanier!) > BigTopo7: added 'Grid Lines' checkbox on BigTopo7's Annotations tab. Default is checked. When unchecked, UTM and LatLon grid ticks are impressed on image but grid lines are omitted. > SHP2QSF now handles shapefiles with 0 length records, Shapetype=0 and Shapelength=4byte. Shapefiles containing these blank records appear to violate the ESRI shapefile definition so a warning message is logged, however the readers should continue to faithfully read subsequent records. > Unlimited annotation attributes are now supported. In addition to the 'Name', 'Description' and 'Note' fields; you may add an unlimited number of additional fields. To access the additional fields, double click on the 'Note' field from the annotation editor or place the mouse cursor near the coordinate and press Alt-F2. The additional attribute fields are used to stuff shapefile exports and are loaded by shapefile imports. > Full support for importing and exporting shapefiles (point, polyline and polygon.) See the menu option 'Annotations: Import/Export: ...'. SHAPEFILE EXPORT: The current user annotation set is exported in the projection (Geographic-Lat/Lon; UTM or Stateplane) to a user selectable path and base filename. AllTopo Waypoints are exported to a point-shapefile with '_PT' appended to the filename; routes are exported as polylines with '_PL' filename extension and polygons are exported as polygons with a '_PG' filename extension. Attribute names and values are accumulated over lines and polygons. SHAPEFILE IMPORT: Point, polyline and polygon shapefiles are imported directly as AllTopo annotations and appended to the current project. > GeoLink/Attribute Viewer is now only updated after 0.050 seconds of mouse cursor inactivity, and the determination of the nearest annotation now occurs in a separate thread. This allows the mouse cursor movement event to run much faster with huge annotation sets. (It is most noticeable when more than 15,000 annotations are active.) > Command Line Arguments: a specific annotation file in addition to the state set to open is no longer required to bypass the initial 'Open State' dialog. The command line "AllTopo.EXE UT" will open the Utah set at the previous location/annotation file. "AllTopo.EXE UT '42.125 N 108.124 W'" opens Utah with the last annotation file centered at the specified location. "AllTopo.EXE UT '42.125 N 108.124 W' mywpts.hwp" sets the annotation file. > Advanced Placename Search, now ignores requests to show without first submitting search. Message "Unknown search request, "Submit" your search first." is displayed. |
Build 7215 | > Unreleased version would not restore last viewed map correctly. (Beta users are vulnerable.) > International settings support '.,' broke world magnetic data file reader (wmm.cof). All magnetic declinations were computed as 180 degrees. MagDec functions correctly with either '.' or ',' system number separator settings. > Faster updated map list indexing, handy as an additional couple thousand updated maps are ready to go online. > Map revision selection now initially selects the currently viewed map revision. > Map revision count no longer counts duplicate copies of the same map. If there were 3 copies (Old USGS, FSSE, New USGS) available and all three were available in the L2Cache, then the map revision count would return 6 even though half the maps were exact duplicates. This also fixes BigTopo asking which map to build from when there is only one. > Coordinate display option caption: 'Comma Separates thousands (1,000.000,0)' has been changed to 'Use digit grouping for large numbers' to facilitate international usage (1,000.000,0 vs. 1.000,000.0). > Topo Map Symbols appeared on 'Tools' and 'Help' menu. Tools reference removed (existing installations need delete Toposymbols.Tool & Tolposymbols.bmp to remove from Tool menu.) > Point-to-Point Tool: Bookmarks did not work until points set by right-click. Bookmarks now work as expected. > Viewer and BigTopo7: some non-standard bitmaps caused hillshader to load offset images. (Specifically bfOffBits-biBitCount-biClrUsed do not match.) XBMP methods now detect and properly load these images. We encountered this issue when processing California maps based from Teal stock. In a related change BigTopo's exported to .BMP format now have unused palette entries set to gray matching the palette index instead of black. > Added datum to Annotation Import Agent's Converted Waypoints. > BigTopo7: Added additional checks for write enabled MI files in L2Cache after decompression. Some users encountered problems building BigTopos when .IT3 source maps were found on fixed disk paths. Maps were successfully decompressed, however matching .MI files could not be read as some systems reported the newly created .mi files as 'in use', even though they had been written and (just barely) closed. The exact error message reported in the log was:
We were never able to duplicate this error on our test systems, it was found by adding additional debug messages to the log file. > Edit Annotation reversed the system setting for elevation units: Meters->SFeet; SFeet->Meters. > Edit Annotation dialog would not read internationalized elevations: '123,4ft' was read as '1234ft'. > 'Search Annotation List' dialog now shows the annotation filename on the title bar. > The Center Pivot tool now accounts for successive points that are EXACTLY the same. This used to generate 0 radius circles or throw a floating point exception. > Scale bar used 'Mt' for meters, now uses 'M'. > Layer/Grid Controller is now minimized if the main viewer window is minimized. > Removed the '§' characters from the GeoLink viewer. > Default PPI button in BigTopo7 now generates correct scale using international (like 1:24.000 instead of 1:24,000) settings. |
Build 7208 | The following items provide additional international ‘.,’ support, issues suggested by R. Kanzler:> False Elevation Color tool now works with International '.,' settings. Previous version could not read color profile files from USA version. Color profiles are now stored the same way (USA) regardless of '.,' setting. > Bookmarks from opposite internationalized settings are now read correctly. > Accepts DATUM during fast parse of coordinate line like " 42.123 -107.234 WGS84; description". This allows non-internationalized GPS tool to work with internationalized viewer, and will speed up interpretation of some HWP files. This coordinate style has always worked, but the parse engine worked much harder to decipher these coordinates in the past. > GPS Tool internationalized to support '.,' styles. |
Build 7206 | > PLS coordinate style with ',' added (embellishment) now report the full Principal Meridian name. (Suggested by R. Reanier) For example, in Alaska:
> Fixes for international '.,' support broke PLS parse of Alaskan Principal Meridians. Fixed support of coordinates like "SW¼ SW¼ NE¼ Sec 34 T 21S R 22W Seward PM; WP1". > Writing a .TXT information file, now also generates a .FGD metadata file if the entire map is exported. (Suggested by RTIK@...) NOTE: The .FGD file is ONLY WRITTEN IF THE ENTIRE MAP IS EXPORTED! |
Build 7204 | > The ‘Find Map’ tool now details the number of map revisions available for the centered map. (Suggested by R. Kanzler) > New PLS associated tokens are available:
The complete list of PLS associated tokens is: PLSTWN, PSLRNG, PLSPM, PLSQQQ, PLSNMQQQ, PLSQQ, PLSBEST, PLSNW, PLSNE, PLSSE, PLSSW and PLS. %PLS% returns the currently selected PLS format in the Primary Cursor Coordinate style. > Grid (UTM, State Plane and Lat/Lon) labels may be omitted on printed output. Useful for printing grids on quadrangles. See the new 1st checkbox on the print dialog. (For Lloyd at UIMW) > PLS Tool aliquot engine now supports triple aliquot calls (¼-¼-¼, ½-½-½ or mixed) calls like:
> Enhanced the Zoom Box. You may now type a value into the Zoom box, when you press tab to exit the input area, press Enter or click on another control the entered value is interpreted as the new zoom ratio. (RK and RR) > Added 'Center Pivot Optimizer' tool. Automatically figures and adds largest circle annotation that will fit within a polygon. Useful for finding the 'center' of a field for placing center pivot sprinklers. To use: define a line connected polygon around the field edge (may be a GPS track log). Open the 'Search Annotation List', highlight one of the points on the polygon, and then select 'Options: Center Pivot...’ Works with ill-defined fields, successfully finds ‘hidden’ solutions that are not near the geometric center of the enclosing polygon. > Added 'Arch-Grid' to automatically generate parallel transect grids for search patterns. The intended audience is archeologists generating 1,000 meter square search grids, however the tool may be of interest to search and rescue folks too. Find the Arch-Grid tool under 'Search: Search Annotation List (Find Wpt): Options: Arch-Grid'. First load a bookmark near the southwest corner of a 1K grid block. The 'Rnd' button will automatically round the coordinate to the nearest 1K even value. Details: Output grid is generated in the datum that the base point (southwest corner) is expressed in; Naming convention is 'eeeeEN' for endpoints, 'Gxx_yy'for guidelines. A detailed report from this feature's author (Bob Hafey) based on field use will be included in a future version. > Added 'Maximum Slope' display box. Enable by checking 'View: Display Slope'. Computes the maximum slope by comparing the elevation at the cursor, with 16 locations spaced equally around the cursor location 50 meters distant. > [Add to User Manual] GPS Elevation - If you move an annotation and it has a GPS Elevation associated with it, the GPS Elevation is removed (as it no longer is correct for the updated position). (Thanks to Rainer K for the following issues: ) > Full support for alternate decimal point and thousands separator. All Topo now automatically detects the regional settings for '.' and ','. Prompts and help are still USA(1,234.56) based. HWP files generated with USA settings are NOT interchangeable with 1.234,56 based systems unless the coordinates are expressed as decimal degrees. Configuration files should be interchangeable between US and Intl. machines. This extension resulted in changes throughout the system. > Build Profile displayed: Meters when Survey Feet chosen for elevation display; Survey Feet when Meters chosen. > Notes containing GPS Elevations and GPS Timestamps were not always read correctly. Errors typically occurred when a Note ended with 'Date=xxx Elev=xxx'. > Annotations on disabled layers are no longer eligible for moves, edits, GeoLink/Attribute Viewer... > Dialogs are no longer forced onto the primary screen in a multi-screen system. Dual monitors are now a joy with All Topo Maps! > Forward and Backwards Diagonal Fills: Forward and Backwards fills were exchanged by Windows API standard (thanks to Rick R). |
Build 7111 | > The aliquot engine in the PLS tool now accepts more combinations. In a nutshell you can stack halves and quarters in any combination like: 'N H S H Sec 12 T12N R14E PM21'. The 'PLS' tab of the 'Find Location' tool has been slightly modified to exploit this expanded feature. (Thanks to Mike J. for this great enhancement!) > It is now possible to change the color of the drawn aliquot part by including a '_color' directive:
will draw a blue line around the NE SW quarter-quarter of section 12. > The PLS footage offset engine will now guess the offset corner from the offset's cardinal directions. An explicit offset corner is no longer required:
'1000 N 5000 W of SE Sec 12 T 12N R14E PM21' <- used to have to have to
include "of SE" It is still advisable to include the base corner for offset, as this construction:
occurs in sections where the SW corner is 35 feet farther south than the SE corner. If you leave off the "of SE", ATM will guess you want to offset from the NE corner. ATM will always include the corner offset from in footage calls it generates. Note: ATM will accept distance units overrides for offsets: '300.4 meters East' will be computed correctly, offsets are ALWAYS assumed to be in FEET unless explicitly followed by an alternate unit. > Added a little button in upper-right corner of 'Find Location' tool that takes the current coordinate entry and places it in the 'Free Form' value so you can edit the value as a single string. > A previous updated version introduced a bug that caused the SNManager to not detect previous PLS, BigTopoPro and Deed Plotter+ installations, nor would it accept V6 serial numbers. > If a dot style other than 'DOT' was selected, it was not possible to re-select 'DOT' as the marker style again. (Thanks to WT Cohen for finding this bug!) > 'Diagonal Cross' brush styles for fills (polygon, circle, ellipse) were not saved to annotation files and were lost when files were written. V7 now writes the tag 'brDCross' to <L ...> tags. (thanks to Neil G. for finding this bug!) |
Build 7110 | > 'Revert to Factory Configuration' button now retains source extension and web map update path. User's should NOT use this button/feature unless things are really messed up--data paths, and all settings are lost. |
Build 7107 | > Slightly modified NAD27CONUS datum used with Islands sets. While this is a poor datum choice, there is some value to plotting Hawaiian points acquired with a GPS in the intended location (NAD27CONUS -> WGS84 -> NAD83 -> OldHawaiian). |
Build 7106 | > Modified date handling (again) at request of customer. Under 'Options: System Options...: Advanced (tab)' timestamp handling may now be selected from: 1-Actively add timestamps when annotations are generated, if no timestamp is found when a file is read a timestamp will be added; 2-Keep existing timestamps, don't add new ones unless the user clicks on the timestamp window in the annotation editor (timestamps from GPS tool are preserved); 3-Stip timestamps actively removes all timestamps when files are written. (Thanks to DStucki!) > Improved Public Land Coordinate footage offset protraction. Old method resulted in slightly different positions when a point was repeatedly converted from Lat/Lon to PLS to Lat/Lon to PLS... Locations would 'wander' as they were converted. The wandering was an order of magnitude less than the PLS Tool's accuracy, however repeated conversions could wander a substantial distance. Conversions now converge to repeatable values, however since offsets are typically expressed in 1 foot increments there is still a potential of a small round off errors. (Users are again cautioned that the PLS Tool is not accurate enough for any of this to really make any difference: don't use the PLS Tool to replace a survey!) > PM20 (in Montana) was incorrectly handled in annotation source files if there was no space between the 'PM' and '20'. For example "2,822 W 3,379 N from SE Sec 36 T 3S R 11E PM20" was not deciphered by ATM as a valid point, while "2,822 W 3,379 N from SE Sec 36 T 3S R 11E PM 20" was converted to "45.5330158 -110.3120295". Only was a problem in PM20 for PLS based source files. > AutoAnnotations were applied to BigTopo's even if AutoAnnotations were disabled (bug introduced in Build 7099.) |
Build 7102 | > Search for a Placename now checks if the searched location can be found on the currently viewed map (perhaps a BigTopo). If the coordinate is found on the current map, the current map is centered at the coordinate at the current scale. |
Build 7101 | > Modified Principal Meridian search list. 'Salt Lake B...' and 'Salt River' were being confused. Salt Lake B&M now must match (at least) 'Salt L' or 'SaltL'. 'Salt River' now additionally accepts 'Salt R' or 'SaltR'. |
Build 7100 | > Support for TXPro map set. > Modified datum to datum conversion:
This change only affects NAD27<->NAD27CONUS conversions, and results in a very, very small difference in converted coordinates. It does converge (slightly) better when repeatedly applying conversions. (Is obsessive-compulsive hyphenated?) > Released updated GPSTool. Supports V7 by including Datum tag in exported files, this reduces the > amount of cross datum conversions. |
Build 7097 | > DXF interpreter would not draw negative bulge, counterclockwise due to a function naming clash between Math.InRange and Utility.InRange. Utility.InRange renamed to Utility.fInRange and EVERY instance of InRange changed to match. Math.InRange is a new function implemented in the latest standard compiler libraries. > Trap control characters in Shape Files that broke Quick Shape Controller pick lists. > Added option to NOT include date/time stamp with coordinates. > Honor pen width setting for Quick Shape outlines. > Trap unclosed polygon shapes and close when drawing QSF edges. > Added hot keys to main menu 'Search: Set Bookmarks' menu for Alt+ access. > No longer list annotations from included files as eligible for edit, move, delete and then rejects them because they are included. > Yikes! Line Widths: V7 does not correctly interpret V6 line widths. V6 accepted <L 4> as a valid line width setting. V7 has incorrectly treated this as the pen width! The fix is in now: <L 4> OR <L W=4> sets line width, <L P=10> sets pen width. This may cause some early V7 users minor line width trouble when updating to this version...(sorry!) |
Build 7092 | > AllTopo has stripped enclosing quotes from hyperlinks before spawning the link. A new option in Options: System Options: Advanced (tab) allows the enclosing quotes to be passed with the spawn. Not sure why you would want to, but someone asked... |
Build 7090 | > Hyperlinks associated with AutoAnnotations are now eligible for evaluation. Very useful for WYOGCC master well file implementation. > When a BigTopo map is loaded, AutoAnnotation files for 1:24,000 scale base maps (Oxxyyy??.hwp) which underlay the BigTopo are now automatically evaluated for Auto annotations. > %DIST% token did not reflect Spike precision setting. > A Maximized map viewing window is now restored on startup. > If only one map is available, the 'Choose Map Scale' dialog is skipped. |
Build 7089 |
