IGage Weatherproof Paper is a coated synthetic film. The base film is porous and inherently has excellent ink absorption characteristics; the film is coated to optimize standard inkjet penetration and toner bonding. Ink and toner are tightly bonded to the sheet resulting in excellent pigmentation, color saturation and image definition.

Since iGage WPPaper is completely waterproof, it is an excellent base for maps, signs, hunting permits, banners, product labels and barcode labels. The material does not peal so it is not necessary to seal edges or laminate printed pieces.

WPPaper provides a rich secure base for handwritten notes. Pens, highlighters, whiteboard markers, permanent markers and color markers all make permanent, indelible annotations. With a gas-charged space pen, you can even write upside-down underwater.

Weatherproof Paper is available in almost any size. The price per square inch of converted products is very dependent upon our ability to mix cut orders to reduce waste.

Typically we will need at least two weeks advance notice. If your custom cut size can not be efficiently cut from our 52" master rolls, we will attempt to run your order with our standard sizes to minimize waste which will save you money. You must call for a price quote which will take up to 48 hours to complete and you must purchase at least 5,000 sheets. Typically there is a 100 roll minimum for custom rolls.

We will gladly print your graphics on our weatherproof paper using Epson UltraChrome K3 pigmented inks. We believe that the Epson K3 inks provide the

• Best UV resistance
• Best resistance to humidity and direct water immersion
• Best color fidelity

of any ink-jet technology when used with our Weatherproof substrate.

Having us print your job is typically much less expensive than printing it yourself because you don’t have to purchase a $200, 100 foot roll to print a 4 foot image. In addition, our print prices are less than most printing shops.

The nominal cost for large format (larger than 8.5x11”) is $3.88 per square foot. However we must print on one of the following roll widths:

24” $7.50 per linear foot
30” $9.38 per linear foot
36” $11.25 per linear foot

or

42” x 60” cut sheet $16.00 per sheet + $3 per printed square foot

Your output size will be rotated to best fill stock roll or cut sheet sizes. For example: a 28” x 18” print job will be printed on 30” wide paper and the cost will be 1.5 linear feet of 30” roll stock or $14.07.

A $5 handling fee + actual shipping charges (UPS and FedEx shipping are available) is charged per order.

Most weatherproof paper plot orders ship within two business days after receipt of order. (We are closed for all Federal and bank holidays and we are closed for the Utah July 24th holiday.) Allow plenty of time for us to plot your job!

We will not print any job that contains a copyright symbol or notice without an authorization letter from the copyright holder.

1. We can accept most raster formats or PDFs: (.TIF, .BMP, .JPG, .PDF or .PNG). Please do not submit live files.

2. Please ZIP your file submission if you are submitting .TIF or .BMP raster images.

3. Your image should be 150 to 720 DPI at finished image size.

4. We do not provide color correction or normalization. We can not guarantee that colors will match from job to job.

5. We can print full bleed images, however we cannot align or position images better than 1/4”.

6. We do not trim any print jobs. Jobs are printed on our standard sized sheets and rolls at the requested scale factor.

WPPaper will degrade and come apart if exposed to direct sun light within 60 to 90 days.  Because it is a plastic (petroleum product) it dries out and begins to become brittle.

WPPaper is very porous and some inks (Hansa yellows) will diffuse through the film to the reverse side of the film. Some inkjet inks (typically generic inks) will fully migrate through the film, while some other ink formulations will not bond with the coatings and can literally shaken off the WPPaper.

WPPaper should be covered when stored as the coatings will absorb impurities in the air and discolor.

WPPaper left in contact with any surface with free color particles will absorb the particles. A piece of WPPaper placed in your wallet between two banknotes will absorb the ink from the notes.

After WPPaper is left underwater for several hours, the air pockets in the film will absorb water and the WPPaper will become translucent. If this occurs, you can blot the excess water from the film and it will air-dry to its original opaque state.

WPPaper may be overprinted (varnished) with oleoresinous (oil-based resin) coatings to seal the absorptive properties of the film after the desired image has been applied. This will provide good resistance to coffee stains and discoloration from environmental impurities. We have also had good success with spray-on fixatives.

WPPaper will feed through most laser printers and copiers. Multiple feeds are common if tray feeding is attempted unless the WPPaper is adequately fanned immediately prior to printing.

WPPaper readily accepts aqueous inkjet prints. The highly absorptive substrate and coating accepts aqueous ink and sets quickly yielding excellent results. Colors will be slightly lighter and less saturated than those obtained on plain or photo-inkjet papers.

If both inkjet and toner printing will be performed on the same sheet, the inkjet image should be applied first as the fuser stage of laser printers slightly modifies the top surface of weatherproof paper.

1. What weight is the paper? The paper is comparable to 24# bond. 

2. Are colors available? No, only white is available.

3. Is one side better than the other? No, in fact we usually can not tell one side from the other. On very careful inspection, one side will be slightly smoother than the other.

4. Can you mark on the paper with highlight pens? Yes, whiteboard pens, felt tip pens, ball point pens, gas charged write-anywhere pens, inexpensive pens and expensive pens all work well. (Gas charged write anywhere pens work best underwater.) But be warned almost any ink will be indelible on this synthetic paper.

5. Is the paper UV resistant? The paper is UV resistant, and toner based printing will likely be very UV resistant. Ink jet printing typically is not UV resistant and will fade normally in sunshine. Black ink lasts the longest, yellow ink has the shortest life. If you need UV resistant results, you must use UV resistant ink/toner.

6. Is rolled stock available? Yes we currently stock 24, 30 and 36 inch wide x 100 foot long rolls on 2 inch cores.

7. How tear resistant is WP Paper? It tears more easily along the 'grain'. It is difficult to get started, but once a tear begins, the paper will rip easily. If you are concerned about ripping the paper, please call us and request some sample sheets.

8. Does the paper work with all inks? No. Some inks are not absorbed by the paper and can almost be shaken off. Other inks (standard HP inks) work great. It is best to get some sample sheets from us to make sure your printer and ink combination will work well. Epson K3 Ultrachrome inks are simply wonderful on this paper.

9. How should I configure my printer? We set ours to 'plain paper'. Selecting 'Coated Paper' will result in extra ink being placed on the paper which may not be fully absorbed.

10. Can I purchase bulk quantities? Yes, all of the sizes are available in unbranded bulk packaging. We consider orders of more than 2,000 sheets to be bulk quantities.

11. Can I get custom cut sizes? Yes we can cut to any size with one edge less than 50", however we will need at least two weeks advance notice. If your custom cut size can not be efficiently cut from our master rolls, we will attempt to run your order with our standard sizes to minimize waste which will save you lots of money. You must call for a price quote which will take up to 48 hours to complete and you must typically purchase at least 2,000 sheets. Availability depends upon our stock of master rolls!

Custom roll sizes and core sizes can also be produced, there is typically a 100 to 200 roll minimum.

12. Can I use a spray fix? Yes, we have successfully used several common spray fix products. Successful applications won't be enhanced much by the additional processing.
