Q0009    Importing data from Garmin Mapsource!

Q    How do I get data (like a track) from Garmin Mapsource, into All Topo Maps V7?

A    Export a  Tab Delimited text file from Mapsource, then import the text file into AllTopo using the Annotation Import Agent.

Load your points (waypoints, routes or tracks) into Mapsource.

Save the points as a tab delimited text file. Choose "File: Save As..."

Change the "Save as Type" to "Text (Tab delimited) (*.txt)", choose a reasonable filename, remember the path where you place the text file:

Press "Save". Close Mapsource.

Open AllTopo Maps, open the Annotation file you want to add the data to. Select the Main Menu option "Annotations: Import/Export: Import Annotations...":

Click on the "..." button to the right of the filename:

Browse for the text file that you exported from Mapsource:

Press "Open", make sure the 'Delimeters' entry contains a "\t". Set the 'Coordinate' value to be the column header that contains the track elevation followed by "~S". (In the following example, the track point locations are stored in column %2%.) Press the Convert button to test.

Finally, press the "3. Append Waypoints to Annotations" button to add the points to your AllTopo job.
